Camellia Cup Feedback

Hi Everyone, I would like to share the clubs response to one of this years Cam Cup racers that was very disappointed in the race management and our planning for the weekend. As volunteers we can only do so much to keep everyone happy but this racer made several good points and I want others to see our response and know that all feedback good or bad is welcome. Feel free to discuss and or post your own suggestions for next year. Thanks, Mark

March 2013 Club Meeting Re-cap

Another great turn-out from the membership last night! If the numbers keep up we could run out of chairs (which is a good problem to have). Everyone enjoyed snacks and drinks provided by the club and had some great questions for Bob Richards on his Big Wake Weekend presentation.

The April meeting will be our Beer Can racing kick-off with a presentation from Mike Meyers on everything you need to know for beer can racing.

The general club presentation can be found here.

The Photos and Media section fixed

In trying to fix something else, I totally broke the Photos and Media section...

UPDATE: It's back, in a new and different form.  A couple of albums got lost and will take some time to recover.  Let me know if you see any issues.

Race Committee Assignments

Have finally been made.  Check the 'Events' tab to see when you are scheduled.

Remember this is not fixed in stone.  If you are unable to handle race committee duties on the scheduled date, you just need to switch with someone else.  And if you do switch, please let me know so I know who to expect for each event.

Finally, if you are not listed, but want to do RC, please let me know so I can put you on the list of substitutes.

Douglas M. CAMPBELL

Many long-time members of FLYC may remember Doug Cambpbell as a consummate sailor and Raven owner. Sadly, Doug recently passed away on Jan. 9, 2013 at 74 years old after a short battle with lung and brain cancer. He knew as a small boy, he wanted to be an Engineer, and went on to graduate from U.C. Berkeley in 1957 with an M.S. in Mechanical Engineering. After a successful career in Engineering and Computer programming with Aerojet General Aerospace Company, he started his own company Westco Engineering and continued with PDA and MSC Engineering computer software companies. Doug loved sailing, cars, bridge, and bowling. “So let it be written, so let it be done.  Carry on.”

New Kayot Policy

We have a new club policy when operating the Kayot.

The Kayot MUST be backed entirely out of the fairway and not turned until it is well clear of all other vessels in the marina basin.

If you are not comfortable operating the Kayot, please let the Vice Commodore know well in advance of your assigned RC date.  You can be given instructions or another operator can be found.

Thank You!
